I met my lovely
wife, Melina, while I was serving in the USAF
at Malmstrom AFB in Great Falls, Montana. She was a nursing exchange
student working at Deacones Hospital. We would go dancing, go to the
movies, go to parties and view the sites of Montana. I would meet her
every night as she got off her nursing shift at 11:00 p.m.
After a year of courting, we got married on May 16, 1961.
A year later, our first son was born - Joel Peter. In 1964 our second son was born - Jeffrey Carag. And in 1966 our third son was born - John Thomas. They are all grown-up and leading good lives. I'm proud of each one.
After retiring from the USAF, I started my second career. I worked as the maintenance manager of an apartment complex, which was part of HUD (Housing Urban Department). I retired after 20 years. At the same time, I used my GI Bill to further my education at Evergreen Valley College.
Now that I'm retired, my wife and I visit the world. Since Melina still works as a school nurse, we travel once a year during her summer break. I enjoy seeing different parts of the world and experiencing different cultures.
